All About the Breckenridge Gondola

Breckenridge Gondola Rides

The BreckConnect Gondola is a favorite to skiers and visitors alike and provides access to the ski resort from the town of Breckenridge. The BreckConnect carries up to 8 passengers in each cabin and covers almost 400 feet of vertical rise and 7,600 feet in around 13 minutes.

Operating since 2006, the Breckenridge Gondola transports passengers to the base of Peak 8. The ride offers beautiful views of the town and resort during the winter and summer months. Views of the Tenmile Range and the Cucumber Gulch Wildlife Preserve* are plentiful while riding up. The Cucumber Gulch Wildlife Preserve harbors state-endangered boreal toad, moose, elk, deer, mountain lion, beaver, and over forty-seven species of birds, so you have a great shot at spotting some sort of wildlife on your gondola ride.

*Please keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the Wildlife Preserve as they pose a huge risk to the animals inhabiting the area.

Gondola Access & Hours of Operation

The operating hours vary depending on the season, but it generally runs between:
  • 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM between the resort's Opening & Closing day during ski season
  • 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM during the summer
  • After Closing Day, the gondola shuts down until around mid-June
It is completely FREE to ride the gondola up and down, but once on the slopes, a ski pass is required. Feel free to bring your leashed dog on the gondola as there are many hiking trails around the resort. The gondola does carry bikes up as well, but there is a fee. Guests who want to stay at the Peak 8 Base past gondola operating hours can catch a ride down on the Black Route on the Breck Free Ride Shuttle that picks up just below the gondola on Ski Hill Road. The Shuttle runs year-round and is a great alternative to getting into town at the end of a day on the slopes if the gondola line is long.
